“I think the reason I create art is because I’m too afraid to say what is in my mind in written form so instead I create art so others can see it visually. I dislike writing my thoughts in journals and online for fear that someone who I don’t want to see it will. Instead I create art out of my thoughts because if someone sees it they may not really get what I was trying to say in the first place. It feels less scary that way."
Love this!
ReplyDeleteHow honest and brave of you to express this in your blog. Ar e these your own words, or a quote from somebody else? (I'm only asking because of the quotation marks, but you haven't attributed it to anyone.) In a way, my project is partly about this, too... not that I have a huge fear of expressing my thoughts and/or putting them into writing, but just that it can be difficult, and there is always the chance that those expressions (in whatever form) can be misinterpreted or misunderstood, so there is risk involved... but there is also some safety in the ambiguity of it, too... and I'm intrigued by all this. So yeah.
ReplyDeletethat is my own personal quote
ReplyDeleteFor someone it's easier to use words to translate their feelings and perception to the world. For someone's music sheets is the best book overall, for someone - is body movements. I experience trouble being understood in English language constantly, because I am thinking by images, and they are moving in my head with a speed of a hummingbird wings. I never have been misunderstood by my art images. If you, Piper, feel easier to use art language, just because That Is Your Language.
